Pegged as a female-lead Jason Bourne-esque thriller, Michael Apted‘s new action film follows Noomi Rapace as Alice Racine, a CIA interrogator, who teams up with an MI5 agent (played by Orlando Bloom), to investigate and prevent a large-scale biological terrorist attack on London. My god, the trailer is action packed. Rapace, who has proved herself more than capable when handling a gun in the Swedish film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), is a perfect fit as the female lead to carry the film through. The trailer also features a disheveled and tatted up Bloom, as an East Londoner, and Toni Collette firing a machine gun. The cast also includes John Malkovich and Michael Douglas.

With the unprecedented rise of quality and scope of television in the last half-decade, and the increased demand for online streaming, similar releases like last year’s Jason Bourne and 2015’s MI-5 starring Kit Harington felt a little outdated, the storylines seeming more suited for a television miniseries, with not enough justification for the admission price to the cinema. It’s too early to say whether this will be the case for Unlocked, but the psychological thriller certainly does look to be packed full of action.

Unlocked is set to be released theatrically in the UK on March 5th. You can watch the trailer below.
